The Door

Leti Diaz

Have you ever thought about “A Door”?    I know, funny question..

I really never thought about it, I just took it for granted, you walk through it to come in or to go out, no brainer. But you know, A door is a barrier to allow entrance to those you give permission to, and to let people out that want to leave or if they are no longer welcome.

Some come in by permission and you welcome them, others come barging in like they own the place, and you allow it for just a little while, and can’t wait for them to leave…  hmmm, have you ever had that happen to you?   And then, there are intruders who come in secretly, sneaking they’re way into your space, into your life-uninvited and steal from you.

Let’s role play that…

  • You hear a knock on the door,  knock knock or you hear a doorbell, you go to the door to see who it is, and you’re all excited to see a friend or family member and open the door wide so they can walk in..  you welcome them..  come on in, it’s so nice that you stopped by.

  • Or you open the door and it’s a solicitor, you either welcome them in or say no thank-you and you close the door.

  • Then there’s that moment, when you walk in your house...  it’s been broken into, someone come in uninvited and ravaged your home while you were gone, an intruder.

Let’s read Revelation 3:20:

Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.

What will you do out of those three examples I just shared?

  1. Let Jesus In?

  2. Say, no thank-you, I’m not interested?

  3. Call the police because you’ve just been robbed? Remember, the enemy of our soul will only come to kill, steal and destroy!

Some will you let Him in, yah! Others are not interested, and will miss eternity; and the last one, the enemy came in your house not wanting you be saved, he stole your peace, your security, your hope, you're faith... you’ve been robbed of your eternity with God!

Let’s go to another scripture:   Genesis 18:1-3

"Then the Lord appeared to him (Abraham) by the terebinth trees of Mamre, as he was sitting in the tent door in the heat of the day. So he lifted his eyes and looked, and behold, three men were standing by him; and when he saw them, he ran from the tent door to meet them, and bowed himself to the ground, and said, “My Lord, if I have now found favor in Your sight, do not pass on by Your servant."

Here we read that the Lord, came to Abraham while he was sitting at the door, and Abraham welcomed them).  And in Genesis 18:10; (Sarah was listening in the tent door which was behind him.)   She hid herself, not wanting to be seen.  Remember God see’s everything, nothing is hidden from Him.

Exodus 29:42

"This shall be a continual burnt offering throughout your generations at the door of the tabernacle of meeting before the Lord, where I will meet you to speak with you."

(See the Lord is always at the door waiting to meet with you)

2 Chronicles 23:3-4

"Then all the assembly made a covenant with the king in the house of God. And he said to them, “Behold, the king’s son shall reign, as the Lord has said of the sons of David. This is what you shall do: One-third of you entering on the Sabbath, of the priests and the Levites, shall be keeping watch over the doors;"

You know not just anyone can come through the door, you need to be invited, just as Jesus asks permission to come in, so we must also come the same way, Humbly.

John 6:44

"No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up at the last day."

Now let me read The Parable of the Great Supper... Luke: 14:15-24

"Now when one of those who sat at the table with Him heard these things, he said to Him, “Blessed is he who shall eat bread in the kingdom of God!” Then He said to him, “A certain man gave a great supper and invited many, and sent his servant at supper time to say to those who were invited, ‘Come, for all things are now ready.’  But they all with one accord began to make excuses. The first said to him, ‘I have bought a piece of ground, and I must go and see it. I ask you to have me excused.’  And another said, ‘I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I am going to test them. I ask you to have me excused.’  Still another said, ‘I have married a wife, and therefore I cannot come.’  So that servant came and reported these things to his master. Then the master of the house, being angry, said to his servant, ‘Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in here the poor and the maimed and the lame and the blind.’  And the servant said, ‘Master, it is done as you commanded, and still there is room.’  Then the master said to the servant, ‘Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.  For I say to you that none of those men who were invited shall taste my supper.’

God has made a way to enter His Kingdom, the invitation is here, yet again, He’s always seeking you to come and to be part of His kingdom.  His kingdom where there will be no more death, no more sorrow’s, no more pain, and no more tears.

Revelation 21:1-8  All Things Made New

Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also, there was no more sea. Then I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.”

Then He who sat on the throne said, “Behold, I make all things new.” And He said to me, “Write, for these words are true and faithful.”  And He said to me, “It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. I will give of the fountain of the water of life freely to him who thirsts. He who overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will be his God and he shall be My son. But the cowardly, [e]unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.”

John 3:16-17

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him."

He gave His life so that would be able to enter into the kingdom of heaven, not by the things that we do, but by receiving Jesus as our Lord and Savior.

Will you open the door of your heart and let Him in?

If you are ready to open that door and invite Jesus in, and or renew your commitment to Him, you can say this prayer:

“Lord Jesus, please forgive me a sinner, I repent of all my sins, come be Lord over my life, renew me, make my life new again… I receive you as my Lord and Savior.”  Amen

You are now a child of God adopted into His family to rule and rein with Him in eternity forever.  Now, if you said that prayer, please let someone know, find a Spirit filled church, let us know that you made that decision for Christ, as we would like to rejoice with you!

Just a side note: not only is the Lord knocking on the doors of our heart, He also wants you to protect your heart…be careful who you let in, and be careful what you’re watching and listening to.

If you have questions, please don’t hesitate to ask… just send us an email… let us know.

May the Lord richly bless you and your family.  Amen and amen!
