Holy Spirit

Leti Diaz

Psalm 143:10

Holy Spirit Teach me to do thy will; for thou art my God; thy Spirit is good; lead me into the land of the uprightness.

When I read that I said to myself, yes, “Teach me and lead me to the paths of righteousness so that I can do your will”. We have to be teachable and open if we want this kind of learning.  We can’t be taught if we’re not open; and I say to be open to His testing, His direction and His leading.  We have to trust Him even though we don’t see the whole picture. We have to step out of our comfort zone and we can’t be wishy washy in our decisions.

We have to be open and willing 100% of the time; with our whole heart, mind and spirit.  We can’t say yes to something and give 50%, not even 90%.  He requires obedience and sacrifice 100% of the time.  That’s where the wheat and chaff come in, He separates those and tests those who want His will for their lives. We can only do what is right if we surrender ourselves to the Holy Spirit so He can lead us.

Something else that was revealed to me was that the Holy Spirit is a person; I’ve known for a long time that He IS.  But sometimes it’s hard to trust in someone who you can’t see.  Walking and doing what the Holy Spirit asks of us takes a lot of faith.  We have to step out.

Some people have a hard time believing in an invisible person, that’s why it’s hard for some to really acknowledge that the Holy Spirit is a “SOMEONE” and that He can be trusted and He can be believed, He can even be our companion and friend.

Another area of the Holy Spirit that was revealed to me was His authority….  The Holy Spirit, was, is and ever shall be!  He, Jesus, and the Father always operate in unison.

In Genesis, the Lord said let there be light… who was the one who performed it, or made it come to “light”, it was the Holy Spirit…  “By the power of the Holy Spirit”.

As we read in Genesis 1, verse 2…. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters…  verse 3… Then God said, Let there be light”; and there was light.  then He began to declare that there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, let there be dry land, then grass, herbs, fruit, stars, animals, and man … my point here is that if He commanded it, someone had to be listening!

I believe that someone is the Holy Spirit, I believe it’s His “assignment” to complete Gods Word/Command.

So, we see that these are a few attributes of the Holy Spirit - He can be trusted, He has authority and He’s able to create.

Holy Spirit Teach me to do your will; for you are my God; Your Spirit is good; lead me into the land of the uprightness...

So, I say, Holy Spirit, help me to hear You, help me do Your will, to follow You and help me to be holy and righteous in Your sight.

Help me, help us to follow the path which You have set before us.  Help me bear fruit, Your fruit… love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.    Amen!
